NDIS PACE: The New Planning System Explained

Xyston Support Coordination Team 1 April 2024 2 min read

The NDIA has been rolling out a new computer system called PACE since late 2023. If your plan has been reviewed or created since early 2024, you’re likely already on it. Here’s what you need to know.

Information current as of April 2024. This article is general information only — not NDIS, legal, or financial advice.

What is PACE?

PACE is the NDIA’s new information management system, replacing the older PRODA/myplace platform. It was built to improve the experience for participants, providers, and coordinators — with better plan management, clearer budgets, and a new participant portal called my NDIS.

What’s changed for participants?

No more line items. Under PACE, your plan shows funding at the support category level rather than individual line items. For example, instead of seeing “$2,400 for Occupational Therapy,” you’ll see a total under “Improved Daily Life.” This gives more flexibility to use funds within a category.

Total budget amount. From October 2024, plans show a single total funded amount alongside the category breakdown, making it easier to see what you have overall.

No service bookings. The old system required providers to create service bookings that locked up funding. PACE removes this, meaning your money isn’t pre-allocated until a claim is actually made.

New my NDIS portal. Participants with PACE plans access their information through the updated my NDIS app and website, rather than the old myplace portal.

What’s the same?

  • Your supports and goals remain as agreed in your plan
  • You still choose your providers
  • Plan-managed and self-managed funding works the same way
  • Support Coordinators still help you navigate everything

How do I know if I’m on PACE?

You’ll have been notified in writing when your plan was moved to PACE. You can also check with your Support Coordinator or call the NDIA on 1800 800 110.

If you’re unsure, your coordinator can look this up and help you access your plan correctly in the new system.
